Upper Lough Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland is in the Wicklow Mountains about 12 air miles south of Dublin town center. This glacial cirque, dammed by a terminal moraine, is the type locality of Jungermannia hibernica Hooker — the “Irish Jungermannia” (= Moerckia hibernica) that was described in 1816. Our efforts to relocate this plant here nearly 200 years later were not successful.
